| For the fourth straight week, gasoline prices in Rhode Island are trending downward, falling this time by an average of five cents, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s September 28 survey of prices in Rhode Island finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.58 per gallon, dropping five cents from last week, and eleven cents in the last month. The current price is nine cents above the national average for regular unleaded of $2.49. It is 97 cents less than at this time a year ago, when regular unleaded fuel averaged $3.46. The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 40 cents, from a low of $2.399 to a high of $2.799. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time. Today’s local gas prices and their ranges are as follows: Regular Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.589 ($2.399-$2.799)/$2.619 ($2.529-$2.699) Midgrade Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.749 ($2.599-$2.959)/$2.739 ($2.739-$2.739) Premium Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.859 ($2.699-$3.129)/$2.839 ($2.839-$2.839) Diesel - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.709 ($2.639-$2.799)/$2.749 ($2.699-$2.799) AAA Fuel Saving Tip of the Week For most of us, vacation season is over.
