(posted by Public Affairs on August 25 @ 10:17 )
Labor Day travelers will see a continued reduction in gas prices locally, as another ten-cent drop in Rhode Island leaves prices more than 50 cents per gallon cheaper than in early July, according to AAA Southern New England.
AAA’s August 25 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.589 per gallon, down 10 cents over last week and 52 cents from the record high of $4.10 back on July 7. Rhode Island is currently 10 cents below the national average of self-serve regular of $3.68. A year ago at this time the average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island was $2.689.
The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 28 cents, from a low of $3.419 to a high of $3.699. Diesel is down 8 cents this week to $4.48. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time.
