| Following three consecutive weeks of price hikes, gasoline prices in Rhode Island are unchanged this week, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s August 24 survey of prices in Rhode Island finds self-serve, regular unleaded leveling off at $2.68 per gallon for the second week in a row, up 10 cents in the last month. The current price is six cents above the national average of $2.62 for regular unleaded, and it stands 90 cents lower than at this time a year ago, when the average cost for regular unleaded was $3.58. The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 20 cents, from a low of $2.599 to a high of $2.799. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time. Today’s local gas prices and their ranges are as follows: Regular Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.689 ($2.599-$2.799)/$2.729 ($2.689-$2.759) Midgrade Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.819 ($2.719-$2.989)/$2.849 ($2.849-$2.949) Premium Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.939 ($2.819-$3.159)/$2.949 ($2.949-$2.949) Diesel - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.749 ($2.679-$2.799)/$2.779 ($2.749-$2.799) AAA Fuel Saving Tip of the Week If it’s been a while since you’ve checked your tire pressure, make sure your tires are properly inflated.
