Gas Prices Down Five More Cents, Says AAA

GAS PRICES DOWN FIVE MORE CENTS, SAYS AAA

Gasoline prices in Rhode Island are down another five cents this week, continuing a six-week decline that has seen prices fall an average of 42 cents per gallon, according to AAA Southern New England.
AAA’s August 18 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.689 per gallon, down five cents over last week and 42 cents from the record high of $4.10 back on July 7. Rhode Island is currently six cents below the national average of self-serve regular of $3.74. A year ago at this time the average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island was $2.769.
The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 29 cents, from a low of $3.569 to a high of $3.859. Diesel is down 11 cents this week to $4.56. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time.

$4.569 ($4.399-$4.799)/$4.639 ($4.599-$4.719)

Travel at moderate speeds on the open road. Higher speeds require more fuel to overcome air resistance. Remember, however, speeds slower than the flow of traffic can create a traffic hazard.
