| For the first time in three weeks, gasoline prices in Rhode Island have risen, but just an average of a penny per gallon, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s July 7 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $4.109 per gallon, up one cent over last week. Rhode Island is currently even with the national average of self-serve regular of $4.10. A year ago at this time the average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island was $2.939. The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 28 cents, from a low of $4.019 to a high of $4.299. Diesel is up two cents this week to $4.93. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time. Today’s local gas prices and their ranges are as follows: Regular Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $4.109 ($4.019-$4.299)/$4.149 ($4.079-$4.199) Midgrade Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $4.249 ($4.149-$4.459)/$4.269 ($4.199-$4.299) Premium Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $4.359 ($4.199-$4.599)/$4.419 ($4.299-$4.459) Diesel - Self Serve/Full Serve $4.939 ($4.799-$5.029)/$4.889 ($4.859-$4.999) AAA Fuel Saving Tip of the Week Fuel is part of the total cost of vehicle ownership, so fuel conservation should be an important factor when choosing a new vehicle.
