| Lower crude oil prices have had some impact at the gas pumps locally as gasoline prices in Massachusetts are down an average of three cents this week, the second straight week of decreases, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s July 21 survey of prices in Massachusetts found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $4.039 per gallon, three cents less than last week and five cents lower than two weeks ago. Massachusetts is currently three cents below the national average for regular unleaded of $4.069. A year ago at this time the average price in Massachusetts was $2.909. The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 54 cents, from a low of $3.859 to a high of $4.399. Diesel fell one cent to $4.86. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time. Rhode Island is currently even with the national average of self-serve regular of $4.06. A year ago at this time the average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island was $2.959. The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 35 cents, from a low of $3.949 to a high of $4.299. Diesel is down one cent this week to $4.91.
