| Gasoline prices in Rhode Island have been relatively stable over the last six weeks, and are unchanged today from last week, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s July 19 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.73 per gallon, the same price as last week, and just two cents different from the $2.75 back on June 7. The current price is one cent above the national average for regular unleaded of $2.72. A year ago at this time Rhode Island’s average price was $2.59. The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 40 cents, from a low of $2.579 to a high of $2.979. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time. Today’s local gas prices and their ranges are as follows: Regular Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.739 ($2.579-$2.979)/$2.729 ($2.699-$2.749) Midgrade Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.899 ($2.779-$3.159)/$2.829 ($2.79- $2.849) Premium Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $3.009 ($2.789-$3.259)/$2.929 ($2.899-$2.949) Diesel - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.989 ($2.939-$3.059)/$2.949 ($2.949-$2.949) AAA Fuel Saving Tip of the Week Use the air conditioner conservatively. Most air conditioners have an “economy” or “recirculation” setting that reduces the amount of hot outside air that must be chilled. Both settings can reduce the air conditioning load – and save gas.
