AAA’s June 9 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $4.079 per gallon, up six cents from last week, and 94 cents since the start of the year. Rhode Island is currently five cents above the national average of self-serve regular of $4.02. Nineteen states and the District of Columbia now average $4.00 or higher. A year ago at this time the average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island was $3.009. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time. Most air conditioners have an “economy” or “recirculation” setting that reduces the amount of hot outside air that must be chilled. Both settings can reduce the air-conditioning load – and save gas.
