| Gas Prices Unchanged As Fourth Nears, Says AAA (posted by Public Affairs on June 30 @ 11:05 ) |
| As Rhode Island drivers prepare to head out for their Fourth of July vacations, they are finding gasoline prices high, but relatively stable, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s June 30 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $4.099 per gallon, the same price as last week. Over the last two weeks, the average price has dropped a penny. Rhode Island is currently one cent above the national average of self-serve regular of $4.08. A year ago at this time the average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island was $2.929. The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 30 cents, from a low of $3.999 to a high of $4.299. Diesel is down a penny this week to $4.91. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time. Today’s local gas prices and their ranges are as follows: Regular Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $4.099 ($3.999-$4.299)/$4.149 ($4.079-$4.199) Midgrade Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $4.229 ($4.129-$4.459)/$4.259 ($4.199-$4.299) Premium Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $4.339 ($4.199-$4.499)/$4.389 ($4.369-$4.399) Diesel - Self Serve/Full Serve $4.919 ($4.799-$5.039)/$4.889 ($4.859-$4.899) AAA Fuel Saving Tip of the Week Traffic can get heavy during the Fourth of July holiday weekend. AAA suggests allowing extra time to get to your destination, which will make it a less stressful ride. Aggressive driving, especially hard stop and go driving, can decrease fuel economy, as can driving on the highway at 75 miles-per-hour instead of 65.
