| For the first time since late March, gasoline prices in Rhode Island are lower than the previous week, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s June 23 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $4.099 per gallon, down one cent from last week. Prices had risen for 12 straight weeks, by a total of 93 cents, before today’s drop. Rhode Island is currently two cents above the national average of self-serve regular of $4.07. A year ago at this time the average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island was $2.939. The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 28 cents, from a low of $4.019 to a high of $4.299. Diesel is down a penny this week to $4.92. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time.
