| Gasoline prices locally have risen for the tenth consecutive week, leaving Rhode Island as one of 13 states now averaging at least $4.00 per gallon, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s June 2 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $4.019 per gallon, up five cents from last week, and 88 cents since the start of the year. Rhode Island is currently four cents above the national average of self-serve regular of $3.97. A year ago at this time the average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island was $3.069. The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 17 cents, from a low of $3.949 to a high of $4.119. Diesel is up another four cents last week to $4.93. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time.
