| Gasoline prices in Rhode Island are up another two cents this week, the sixth consecutive week of increases, but the smallest one-week increase in the last month, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s May 5 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.609 per gallon, up two cents from last week and 47 cents since the start of the year. Rhode Island is currently one cent below the national average of self-serve regular of $3.61. A year ago at this time the average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island was $2.879. The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 15 cents, from a low of $3.549 to a high of $3.699. Diesel fell a penny last week to $4.39. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time. Today’s local gas prices and their ranges are as follows: Regular Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $3.609 ($3.549-$3.699)/$3.619 ($3.599-$3.669) Midgrade Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $3.739 ($3.659-$3.949)/$3.719 ($3.699-$3.769) Premium Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $3.839 ($3.699-$3.979)/$3.789 ($3.769-$3.799) Diesel - Self Serve/Full Serve $4.399 ($4.349-$4.479)/$4.419 ($4.399-$4.459) AAA Fuel Saving Tip of the Week Travel at moderate speeds on the open road.
