Gas Prices Continue Upward March, Says AAA, Increase of 16 Cents Moves Average Near $4.00

Gasoline prices in Rhode Island continue to increase rapidly and by large amounts, leaving the mark of $4.00 per gallon within immediate reach, according to AAA Southern New England.
AAA’s May 27 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.969 per gallon, up 16 cents from last week, and 38 cents in just the last four weeks. Rhode Island is currently three cents above the national average of self-serve regular of $3.93. A year ago at this time the average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island was $3.089.
The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 16 cents, from a low of $3.899 to a high of $4.059. Diesel jumped another 22 cents last week to $4.89. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time.

$4.899 ($4.749-$4.999)/$4.949 ($4.899-$4.999)
