| Gasoline prices in Rhode Island have risen for the sixth consecutive week, but remain below the $3.00 per gallon mark, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s May 10 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.97 per gallon, two cents higher than last week. The current price is seven cents above the national average for regular unleaded of $2.90. A year ago at this time Rhode Island’s average price was $2.23. The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 24 cents, from a low of $2.869 to a high of $3.109. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time. Today’s local gas prices and their ranges are as follows: Regular Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.979 ($2.869-$3.109)/$2.899 ($2.889-$2.899) Midgrade Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $3.109 ($2.999-$3.229)/$3.029 ($2.99- $3.049) Premium Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $3.219 ($3.049-$3.389)/$3.129 ($3.099-$3.149) Diesel - Self Serve/Full Serve $3.169 ($3.079-$3.309)/$3.089 ($3.089-$3.089) AAA Fuel Saving Tip of the Week Travel at moderate speeds on the open road.
