| Gasoline prices in Rhode Island are down a penny this week, and are three cents less than a month ago, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s March 16 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $1.95 per gallon, one cent less than last week. The current price is four cents more than the national average for regular unleaded of $1.91, and is $1.23 less than the $3.18 found a year ago. The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 15 cents, from a low of $1.889 to a high of $2.039. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time. Today’s local gas prices and their ranges are as follows: Regular Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $1.959 ($1.889-$2.039)/$1.979 ($1.949-$1.999) Midgrade Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.099 ($1.989-$2.179)/$2.089 ($2.069-$2.099) Premium Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.229 ($2.119-$2.299)/$2.189 ($2.169-$2.199) Diesel - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.389 ($2.239-$2.599)/$2.479 ($2.439-$2.499) AAA Fuel Saving Tip of the Week If you own more than one car – especially if one of your vehicles is a less fuel-efficient vehicle such as a pickup truck, sport utility vehicle or van – use the more energy-conserving vehicle as often as possible.
