| With oil prices again flirting with $100 per barrel, gasoline prices in Rhode Island are up for the second consecutive week, today jumping an average of nine cents per gallon, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s February 25th survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.109 per gallon, nine cents higher than last week and 12 cents more than just two weeks ago. Rhode Island is three cents below the national average of self-serve regular of $3.13. A year ago at this time the average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island was $2.329. The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 19 cents, from a low of $2.999 to a high of $3.189. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time. Today’s local gas prices and their ranges are as follows: Regular Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $3.109 ($2.999-$3.189)/$3.129 ($3.099-$3.159) Midgrade Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $3.239 ($3.189-$3.329)/$3.219 ($3.199-$3.259) Premium Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $3.349 ($3.259-$3.599)/$3.319 ($3.299-$3.359) Diesel - Self Serve/Full Serve $3.639 ($3.499-$3.799)/$3.679 ($3.599-$3.749) AAA Fuel Saving Tip of the Week If you have a roof top carrier, only use it when you need it.
