| The average price of gasoline in Rhode Island has reached the $1.90 mark after rising for the fifth consecutive week, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s February 2 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded at the $1.90 per gallon mark after going up six cents in the last week and 26 cents over the five-week period of increases. The current price is two cents more than the national average for regular unleaded of $1.88, and is $1.13 less than the $3.03 found a year ago. The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 16 cents, from a low of $1.839 to a high of $1.999. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time. Today’s local gas prices and their ranges are as follows: Regular Unleaded- - Self Serve/Full Serve $1.909 ($1.839-$1.999)/$1.889 ($1.869-$1.899) Midgrade Unleaded- - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.019 ($1.939-$2.169)/$1.989 ($1.969-$1.999) Premium Unleaded- - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.149 ($2.069-$2.589)/$2.089 ($2.069-$2.099) Diesel- - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.589 ($2.439-$2.699)/$2.739 ($2.659-$2.799) AAA Fuel Saving Tip of the Week If you own more than one car--especially if one of your vehicles is a less fuel-efficient vehicle such as a pickup truck, sport utility vehicle or van—use the more energy-conserving vehicle as often as possible.
