| The average price of gasoline in Rhode Island has risen for the seventh consecutive week, and is closing in on the $2.00 per gallon mark, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s February 16 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $1.98 per gallon, four cents more than last week and 34 cents more than when prices starting rising seven weeks ago. The current price is two cents more than the national average for regular unleaded of $1.96, and is $1.03 less than the $3.01 found a year ago. The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 13 cents, from a low of $1.939 to a high of $2.069. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time. Today’s local gas prices and their ranges are as follows: Regular Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $1.989 ($1.939-$2.069)/$2.009 ($1.959-$2.059) Midgrade Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.119 ($2.049-$2.229)/$2.119 ($2.069-$2.159) Premium Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.219 ($2.159-$2.349)/$2.239 ($2.169-$2.309) Diesel - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.599 ($2.439-$2.759)/$2.679 ($2.569-$2.799) AAA Fuel Saving Tip of the Week If you are taking a vacation trip this week, choose a route that enables you to travel at constant speeds and bypass congested areas as much as possible.
