(posted by Public Affairs on December 31 @ 09:46 )
After little or no movement for the last six weeks, the average price of gasoline in Rhode Island is up four cents today, having waited until the final day of the year to reach the 2007 high point, according to AAA Southern New England.
AAA’s December 31 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.109 per gallon, four cents more than last week. The price is the highest locally since $3.08 on Memorial Day, and also equals the highest price found in 2006. Rhode Island is currently six cents above the national average for regular unleaded of $3.049. A year ago at this time the average price in Rhode Island was $2.429.
The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 14 cents, from a low of $3.059 to a high of $3.199. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time.
