| Gasoline prices in Rhode Island have fallen for the 13th straight week, a seven-cent drop that leaves prices at their lowest point in almost five years, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s December 15 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $1.689 per gallon, seven cents less than last week, and $2.42 less than the record high of $4.10 back in July. The last time prices were this low were in January, 2004. The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 23 cents, from a low of $1.599 to a high of $1.829. Diesel is down six cents this week to $2.68. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time.
