| After three weeks at the same average price, gasoline prices in Rhode Island are down a penny, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s December 10 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.069 per gallon, one cent less than last week. Rhode Island is currently six cents above the national average for regular unleaded of $3.009. A year ago at this time the average price in Rhode Island was $2.319. The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 22 cents, from a low of $2.979 to a high of $3.199. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time.
