Gas Prices Leap By 18 Cents, Says AAA
(posted by Public Affairs on November 5 @ 10:10 )
Record crude oil prices, last week exceeding $96 per barrel, have put tremendous pressure on retail gasoline prices. Nationally, the average price of gasoline has reached $3.00 per gallon, and while Rhode Island isn’t quite there yet, an 18-cent jump in just one week has motorists locally paying the highest prices ever seen in the month of November, according to AAA Southern New England. All grades of self and full service fuel saw a double digit increase in this week’s AAA survey.
AAA’s November 5 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.949 per gallon, up for the third straight week and 18 cents more than last week. Rhode Island is six cents below the national average for regular unleaded of $3.009. A year ago at this time the average price in Rhode Island was $2.179.
The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 14 cents, from a low of $2.879 to a high of $3.019. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time.
Today’s local gas prices and their ranges are as follows:
Regular Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve
$2.949 ($2.879-$3.019)/$2.979 ($2.859-$3.099)
