| You have to go all the way back to February of 2007 to find a time when gas prices were this low in Rhode Island, as a 27-cent drop over just the last week continues the recent pattern of plummeting prices, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s November 3 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.359 per gallon, 27 cents less than last week, and down 97 cents in just the last month. Prices were last this low in late February of last year when they were at $2.32. Rhode Island is currently six cents below the national average of self-serve regular of $2.41. A year ago at this time the average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island was $2.949. Don’t race a cold engine to warm it up or allow it to idle for an extended time. Avoid rapid acceleration until the engine temperature is in the normal range. The engine will warm up faster under a light load, and emissions equipment will begin to function sooner.
