| For the first time since March of 2005, gasoline prices in Rhode Island are averaging less than $2.00 per gallon, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s November 24 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $1.929 per gallon, 18 cents less than last week, and $1.15 less than $3.07 last Thanksgiving. The last time prices were under $2.00 was on March 7, 2005 when the average was $1.96. The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 31 cents, from a low of $1.849 to a high of $2.159. Diesel is down 13 cents this week to $2.96. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time. Today’s local gas prices and their ranges are as follows: Regular Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $1.929 ($1.849-$2.159)/$1.999 ($1.899-$2.099) Midgrade Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.119 ($1.959-$2.349)/$2.129 ($2.099-$2.149) Premium Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.249 ($2.079-$2.589)/$2.229 ($2.199-$2.249) Diesel - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.969 ($2.859-$3.159)/$2.939 ($2.899-$2.999) AAA Fuel Saving Tip of the Week When heading out over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, choose routes that enable you to travel at constant speeds and bypass congested areas as much as possible.
