(posted by Public Affairs on October 20 @ 09:52 )
Gasoline prices in Rhode Island have fallen 66 cents in just the last month, and a 25-cent plunge over the last week leaves motorists paying the lowest prices since one year ago, according to AAA Southern New England.
AAA’s October 20 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.869 per gallon, 25 cents less than last week. Prices haven’t been this low since last October, and are below $3.00 per gallon for just the second time in 2008. Rhode Island is currently six cents below the national average of self-serve regular of $2.92. A year ago at this time the average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island was $2.719.
The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 87 cents, from a low of $2.629 to a high of $3.499. Diesel is down 16 cents this week to $3.80. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time.
