Gas Prices Plunge 21 Cents, Says AAA
(posted by Public Affairs on October 14 @ 11:44 )
Lower oil prices are leading to plunging prices at the pump, with a 21-cent drop in Rhode Island in the last week pushing the average price ever closer to the $3.00 per gallon mark, according to AAA Southern New England.
AAA’s October 14 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.119 per gallon, 21 cents less than last week. Prices haven’t been this low since mid-April. Rhode Island is currently 5 cents below the national average of $3.16 for self-serve unleaded regular. A year ago at this time, the average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island was $2.679.
The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 60 cents, from a low of $2.899 to a high of $3.499. Diesel is down 19 cents this week to $3.96. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time.
