| The average price of gasoline in Rhode Island is up a penny, making for the third straight week of increases, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s January 26th survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $1.849 per gallon, one cent more than last week and 20 cents more than three weeks ago. The current Rhode Island price matches the national average for regular unleaded of $1.84, and is $1.20 less than the $3.04 found a year ago. The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 21 cents, from a low of $1.749 to a high of $1.959. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time. Today’s local gas prices and their ranges are as follows: Regular Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $1.849 ($1.749-$1.959)/$1.839 ($1.799-$1.869) Midgrade Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $1.979 ($1.859-$2.099)/$1.969 ($1.959-$1.969) Premium Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.109 ($1.959-$2.589)/$2.069 ($2.059-$2.069) Diesel - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.579 ($2.459-$2.719)/$2.739 ($2.659-$2.799) AAA Fuel Saving Tip of the Week If you must replace a gas cap, make sure it is the right one for your car.
