| Gasoline prices in Rhode Island are down an average of four cents this week, the second straight week of decreases, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s August 23 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.70 per gallon, down four cents from last week. The current price is equal to the national average for regular unleaded of $2.70. A year ago at this time Rhode Island’s average price was $2.68. The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 33 cents, from a low of $2.569 to a high of $2.899. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time. AAA’s August 16 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.74 per gallon, down one cent from last week. The current price is one cent below the national average for regular unleaded of $2.75. A year ago at this time Rhode Island’s average price was $2.68. The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 32 cents, from a low of $2.599 to a high of $2.919. AAA’s July 26th survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.73 per gallon. Gasoline prices remain relatively stable since the beginning of this summer’s travel season. The current local price is one cent below the national average for regular unleaded of $2.74. A year ago at this time Rhode Island’s average price for regular unleaded gasoline was $2.58. The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 40 cents, from a low of $2.579 to a high of $2.979.
