| Gasoline prices in Massachusetts have fallen for the ninth straight week, down another five cents, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s September 8 survey of prices in Massachusetts found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.559 per gallon, five cents less than last week and 53 cents from the record high of $4.08 back on July 7. Massachusetts is currently 10 cents below the national average for regular unleaded of $3.659. A year ago at this time the average price in Massachusetts was $2.659. The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 72 cents, from a low of $3.379 to a high of $4.099. Diesel fell eight cents last week to $4.42. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time.
