| The impact of Hurricane Ike on gas prices is being felt a bit in Massachusetts, with prices up six cents over last week, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s September 15 survey of prices in Massachusetts found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.619 per gallon, six cents more than last week. It’s the first increase recorded by AAA in Massachusetts since early July. Massachusetts is currently 23 cents below the national average for regular unleaded of $3.849. A year ago at this time the average price in Massachusetts was $2.659. The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 57 cents, from a low of $3.389 to a high of $3.959. Diesel fell five cents last week to $4.37. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time.
