| Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are on the upswing for the second week in a row, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s August 11 survey of prices in Massachusetts finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.579 per gallon, up six cents from last week, and rising eight cents in the last two weeks. The current price is seven cents below the national average for self serve unleaded of $2.64, and is $1.21 less than the $3.78 found this time a year ago. The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 52 cents, from a low of $2.379 to a high of $2.899. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time. Today’s local gas prices and their ranges are as follows: Regular Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.579 ($2.379-$2.899)/$2.669 ($2.599-$2.729) Midgrade Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.689 ($2.399-$2.999)/$2.809 (2.799-$2.829) Premium Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.799 ($2.499-$3.099)/$2.879 ($2.799-$2.929) Diesel - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.689 ($2.539-$2.809)/$2.709 ($2.659-$2.779) AAA Fuel Saving Tip of the Week With gas prices on the rise, it’s more important than ever to shop around.
