| Gasoline prices in Massachusetts fell an average of eight cents this week, and are under $4.00 per gallon for the first time since early June, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s July 28 survey of prices in Massachusetts found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.959 per gallon, eight cents less than last week and 13 cents lower than just three weeks ago. Massachusetts is currently even with the national average for regular unleaded of $3.959. A year ago at this time the average price in Massachusetts was $2.869. The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 66 cents, from a low of $3.739 to a high of $4.399. Diesel fell five cents to $4.81. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time.
