| Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are falling fast, with a dramatic seven cent decline this week over last, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s July 20 survey of prices in Massachusetts found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.499 per gallon, down seven cents from last week and fourteen cents in the past month. The current price is three cents above the national average for self serve unleaded of $2.46, and is $1.57 less than the $4.03 found this time a year ago. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time. Today’s local gas prices and their ranges are as follows: Regular Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.499 ($2.289-$2.799)/$2.599 ($2.519-$2.699) Midgrade Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.639 ($2.379-$2.979)/$2.73 ($2.619-$2.799) Premium Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.749 ($2.479-$3.199)/$2.829 ($2.719-$2.899) Diesel - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.589 ($2.439-$2.899)/$2.629 ($2.539-$2.699) AAA Fuel Saving Tip of the Week If you still have an empty cargo carrier on the roof of your car left there from a recent vacation, remove it. An empty cargo carrier atop your car creates wind resistance and decreases fuel efficiency.
