| Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are up one cent over last week, leaving prices a quarter higher than at the start of the year, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s May 10 survey of prices in Massachusetts finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.879 per gallon, one penny more than last week. The current price is three cents below the national average for self serve unleaded of $2.90. A year ago at this time the Massachusetts average price was $2.18, 69 cents lower than today’s average. The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 30 cents, from a low of $2.799 to a high of $3.099. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time. Today’s local gas prices and their ranges are as follows: Regular Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.879 ($2.799-$3.099)/$2.949 ($2.869-$3.029) Midgrade Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.999 ($2.809-$3.199)/$3.089 ($3.059-$3.129) Premium Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $3.109 ($2.929-$3.399)/$3.189 ($3.159-$3.229) Diesel - Self Serve/Full Serve $3.139 ($2.999-$3.299)/$3.169 ($3.099-$3.249) AAA Fuel Saving Tip of the Week Travel at moderate speeds on the open road.
