| Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are moving closer to $2.00 per gallon, thanks to a seven-cent increase this past week, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s March 30 survey of prices in Massachusetts found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $1.969 per gallon, seven cents more than last week and 34 cents more than the start of the year. The current price is eight cents below the national average for self serve unleaded of $2.04, yet the price is still $1.18 less than the $3.14 found this time a year ago. The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 22 cents, from a low of $1.879 to a high of $2.099. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time.
