| One week after falling for the first time this year, the price of gasoline in Massachusetts has risen this week, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s March 2 survey of prices in Massachusetts found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $1.879 per gallon, two cents more than last week. The current price is six cents below the national average for self serve unleaded of $1.93, and the price is $1.20 less than the $3.07 found this time a year ago. The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 29 cents, from a low of $1.769 to a high of $2.059. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time. Today’s local gas prices and their ranges are as follows: Regular Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $1.879 ($1.769-$2.059)/$1.979 ($1.879-$2.059) Midgrade Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $1.989 ($1.789-$2.199)/$2.119 ($1.979-$2.199) Premium Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.109 ($1.889-$2.359)/$2.229 ($2.079-$2.399) Diesel - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.509 ($2.259-$2.699)/$2.549 ($2.499-$2.599) AAA Fuel Saving Tip of the Week Avoid quick starts and sudden stops. This wastes fuel, is harder on vehicle components, and increases the odds of a traffic crash, especially in wintry weather conditions.
