| The average price of gasoline in Massachusetts has risen for the sixth consecutive week, and is now approaching $1.90 per gallon, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s February 16 survey of prices in Massachusetts found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $1.889 per gallon, three cents more than last week and 26 cents more than when prices started rising six weeks ago. The current price is eight cents below the national average for self serve unleaded of $1.96, and the price is $1.08 less than the $2.96 found this time a year ago. The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 31 cents, from a low of $1.789 to a high of $2.099. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time. Today’s local gas prices and their ranges are as follows: Regular Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $1.889 ($1.789-$2.099)/$1.979 ($1.899-$2.059) Midgrade Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.009 ($1.849-$2.259)/$2.089 ($1.999-$2.209) Premium Unleaded - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.119 ($1.949-$2.359)/$2.219 ($2.099-$2.369) Diesel - Self Serve/Full Serve $2.599 ($2.259-$2.799)/$2.619 ($2.559-$2.699) AAA Fuel Saving Tip of the Week If you are taking a vacation trip this week, choose a route that enables you to travel at constant speeds and bypass congested areas as much as possible.
