| Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are up for the seventh straight week, and are now within two cents of the high point for the year, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA’s December 3 survey of prices in Massachusetts found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.029 per gallon, a cent more than last week and 38 cents more than seven weeks ago. Prices were at their highest this year on May 28, when regular unleaded averaged $3.049 per gallon. Massachusetts is four cents below the national average for regular unleaded of $3.069. A year ago at this time the average price was $2.259. The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 25 cents, from a low of $2.919 to a high of $3.169. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time.
