TIPS FOR HOSTING HOLIDAY PARTIES

AAA reminds those hosting holiday parties this week that being First a Friend, Then a Host, is the best way to make sure your guests have a great time. AAA encourages the use of designated drivers as one way of getting those guests home safely.
In addition:
• Don’t push drinks. People won’t thank you for a party they’ll never remember or a hangover they’ll never forget. Engage guests with food, games, music, and other activities.
• Have enticing alternatives for those who prefer not to drink. Punch, egg nog, apple cider, coffee and soft drinks will still allow those who choose not to drink to feel welcomed into the party spirit.
• Don’t let guests mix their own drinks.
• Don’t rely on coffee to sober up guests who have had too much to drink. Only time can undo the effects of alcohol.
• Be prepared to call a taxi for those who need a ride home. Also, be ready to put some guests up for the night if a taxi or a ride home with another guest is not an option.
