Gas Prices Jump 12 Cents, Says AAA
(posted by Public Affairs on November 5 @ 10:32 )
Record crude oil prices, last week exceeding $96 per barrel, have put tremendous pressure on retail gasoline prices. Nationally, the average price of gasoline has reached $3.00 per gallon, and while Massachusetts isn’t there yet, a 12-cent jump in just one week has motorists locally paying the highest prices ever seen in the month of November, according to AAA Southern New England.
AAA’s November 5 survey of prices in Massachusetts found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.849 per gallon, up for the third straight week and 12 cents more than last week. Massachusetts is currently 16 cents below the national average for regular unleaded of $3.009. A year ago at this time the average price in Massachusetts was $2.129.
The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 36 cents, from a low of $2.639 to a high of $2.999. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time.
Today’s local gas prices and their ranges are as follows:

$2.849 ($2.639-$2.999)/$2.999 ($2.839-$3.199)
